Following the abrupt cancellation of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) IPL match in Dharamshala, Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Punjab Kings, has apologized to fans for her behavior at the stadium. The match, held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, was called off midway due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Zinta took to social media to express her gratitude to the fans who were present and to explain her actions. She acknowledged that she may have come across as "curt" when she declined requests for photographs, but emphasized that her priority was the safety and well-being of everyone at the venue.

In a post on X, Zinta wrote, "Finally back home after a crazy last few days". She extended a "heartfelt thank you" to Indian Railways and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for facilitating the safe and comfortable departure of both IPL teams, officials, and their families from Dharamshala. She also thanked Jay Shah, Arun Dhumal, the BCCI, Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon, and the operations team for their efforts in coordinating the evacuation of the stadium in an orderly manner.

Zinta specifically addressed the fans who were in attendance at the stadium, saying, "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for not panicking & for any stampedes... You guys are absolute rock stars". She then apologized, stating, "I'm sorry I was a bit curt & said no to pictures with everyone but the need of the hour was the safety of everyone and it was my duty & responsibility to make sure everyone stayed safe. Thank you for making it possible. Love you all".

The sudden cancellation of the match and subsequent evacuation were prompted by rising tensions and concerns over civilian security. Reports of a drone strike in the Pathankot region of Jammu and Kashmir, approximately 80 kilometers from Dharamshala, further heightened concerns.

Videos circulating on social media showed Zinta urging spectators to leave the stadium in an orderly fashion. The stadium, which has a seating capacity of around 23,000, was reportedly about 80 percent full at the time of the evacuation.

Following the cancellation of the Dharamshala match, the IPL was suspended for a week. Players and staff of both the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals were escorted from Dharamshala to Jalandhar and then transported to Delhi via a special train.

Zinta's apology and explanation have been met with understanding from fans, who recognized the difficult circumstances and appreciated her prioritization of safety. Her gesture in Dharamshala, where she was seen spreading joy, was well received by fans before the unfortunate turn of events.
