Recent reports suggest that Kajal Aggarwal has been cast as Mandodari in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming adaptation of the Ramayana. This mythological film, which already has a star-studded cast, is one of the most anticipated Bollywood projects slated for release in Diwali 2026.
Kajal Aggarwal will be playing the role of Mandodari, the wife of Ravana, who will be portrayed by Yash. Mandodari is a revered figure in the Ramayana, known for her wisdom, grace, and unwavering loyalty, even in the face of her husband's misdeeds. She consistently advises Ravana to act righteously and urges him to return Sita to Lord Rama. Her character is significant for her moral strength and virtue.
Earlier, there were speculations that Sakshi Tanwar would play Mandodari. However, sources indicate that Kajal Aggarwal has been finalized for the role. According to a source, Kajal recently underwent a look test and has commenced shooting for the scenes set in Ravana's Lanka.
Ramayana will mark the first on-screen pairing of Kajal Aggarwal and Yash. Kajal was last seen opposite Salman Khan in Sikandar. The film, produced by Namit Malhotra, is planned as a two-part series, with the first part scheduled for release during Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The visual effects for the series are being handled by DNEG, an Oscar-winning VFX company.
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is highly anticipated, and fans are eager to see Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, and Yash in their respective roles. While an official announcement regarding the cast is still awaited, the reports of Kajal Aggarwal joining the team have generated significant excitement.
