Jacqueline Fernandez has made a significant impact at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in 2025, representing India at the prestigious Women in Cinema Initiative. The event, hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation, celebrates the contributions of women to the world of cinema. Fernandez was among six global honorees recognized for their work in championing female storytellers.

The Women in Cinema Initiative, now in its third year, has become a staple event at Cannes, highlighting women from the Arab world, Asia, and Africa who are making significant strides in the film industry. This year's honorees included Sarah Taibah, Elham Ali, Amina Khalil, Engfa Waraha, Gaya Jiji, and Rungano Nyoni, alongside Fernandez. The initiative aligns perfectly with the vision of dynamic women who are rewriting cinematic language.

Fernandez shared her excitement and gratitude on Instagram, expressing her delight at being honored at the event. She also shared pictures capturing moments from the event, including panel discussions and behind-the-scenes glimpses. In one post, she reflected on the power of cinema to unite people, highlighting discussions about challenges, joys, and dreams shared amongst the honorees.

For her first appearance, Fernandez opted for a striking pant suit ensemble with a bejeweled corset. She complemented the look with pearl earrings, luminous makeup, and steel-toned heels. Later, she switched to a contemporary white shirt dress from Anamika Khanna, featuring intricate silver chains and embellishments, paired with black pumps and a sleek high braid. For the Women in Cinema gala, Fernandez stunned in a vivid red gown accessorized with a delicate hairstyle and a diamond necklace. Another source mentions a red velvet corset gown by Nicole + Felicia.

Other Indian celebrities are also gracing the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Aditi Rao Hydari are among those expected to walk the red carpet. Nitanshi Goel made her Cannes debut, paying tribute to Indian cinema icons with her traditional look. Anupam Kher also made a red carpet appearance.

Guneet Monga made her mark on Cannes 2025 by launching Women in Film India (WIF India), a fellowship spotlighting rising women producers from India. Backed by Women In Film Los Angeles (WIF LA), WIF India joins a global coalition of over 50 chapters across six continents working to advance gender equity in the entertainment industry.

Fernandez's presence at Cannes 2025 underscores her role as a cultural ambassador for India, showcasing her versatility and impact across industries and platforms.
