Kim Kardashian is officially one step closer to her dream of becoming a lawyer. After dedicating six years to a rigorous legal apprenticeship, the reality TV star and entrepreneur has completed her program and is now eligible to take the California bar exam. The news was confirmed by her representative on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, sending fans and followers into a frenzy of excitement and support.

Kardashian celebrated this significant milestone with a small, private ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She shared the special moment on her Instagram Story, where she was seen beaming with pride while donning a graduation cap. The journey has been a long and challenging one, and the graduation marks a crucial step toward realizing her legal aspirations, inspired by her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., a renowned attorney.

Jessica Jackson, a lawyer who has mentored Kardashian throughout her apprenticeship, lauded her dedication and perseverance. In a heartfelt speech during the ceremony, Jackson described Kardashian's journey as "one of the most inspiring legal journeys we've ever seen." She highlighted that Kardashian entered the program six years ago with an unwavering commitment to fighting for justice. According to Jackson, Kim dedicated 18 hours a week, for 48 weeks a year, totaling 5,184 hours of legal study.

The Law Office Study Program offers an alternative route to becoming a lawyer in California, forgoing the traditional law school path. Instead, aspiring lawyers can study under the guidance of a practicing attorney or judge. Kardashian began her apprenticeship in 2018 with a San Francisco-based law firm and extended her timeline due to COVID-19 pandemic and work commitments. This rigorous path requires immense dedication and self-discipline, qualities that Kardashian has demonstrated throughout her journey.

Her commitment to criminal justice reform has been evident for years. She has actively participated in advocating for inmates, successfully lobbying for reduced sentences, and using her platform to raise awareness about systemic issues within the justice system. In 2018, she famously persuaded President Donald Trump to commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother serving a life sentence for a drug offense. This pivotal moment fueled her passion for law and solidified her desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the legal system.

Before reaching this point, Kardashian had to pass the First-Year Law Student's Examination, also known as the "baby bar." She faced setbacks, failing the exam three times before finally passing it in 2021. She also recently took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) in March 2025, another prerequisite for taking the bar exam in California.

With the apprenticeship now complete, all eyes are on the California bar exam, known for its difficulty. If Kardashian passes, she will officially become a licensed attorney, fulfilling a long-held ambition and potentially paving the way for a new chapter in her career. While she has juggled her legal pursuits with her existing business ventures and media appearances, she expressed a willingness to dedicate herself fully to law. At the TIME100 Summit in 2023, she stated she would be just as happy being an attorney full time and would give up reality TV to focus on her legal career.

The journey has not been without its challenges. Balancing the demands of her career, family, and studies required immense discipline and sacrifice. Yet, Kardashian has remained steadfast in her pursuit, driven by a genuine desire to advocate for justice and make a positive impact on society. As she prepares for the bar exam, she carries with her the support of her family, mentors, and fans who have witnessed her growth and dedication firsthand. Her success could inspire others to pursue unconventional paths to achieve their goals, proving that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
