Farah Khan, the celebrated Bollywood choreographer and director, has recently shared surprising insights into the making of her iconic song "Sheila Ki Jawani," featuring Katrina Kaif. In a recent conversation, Khan revealed that the song, a massive hit from the 2010 film Tees Maar Khan, was actually the "cheapest song" she has ever made, calling it a ‘low-budget masterpiece’.
The revelation came during a visit to actress Manasi Parekh's home for her vlog. While discussing Parekh's upcoming film Shubhchintak, which was made on a modest budget, Khan expressed her belief that limited resources often foster greater creativity. "When someone boasts to me that they made their song on a huge budget, it doesn't impress me," she stated. "I believe the smaller your budget, the better you think. The cheapest song of my life is 'Sheila Ki Jawani.'"
Khan elaborated on the circumstances surrounding the song's production. "We didn't have any set for it," she explained. "All we had were these 10 dancers. We finished shooting the entire song in just three and a half days. It is the cheapest song I've done and the biggest hit of my career. One of the top three or four hits." This confession left Parekh and fellow actor Swapnil Joshi visibly surprised.
"Sheila Ki Jawani," sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Vishal Dadlani, and composed by Vishal-Shekhar, became a sensation upon its release. The song topped music charts across India and remains a popular choice for dance performances at weddings and parties even today. Katrina Kaif's performance in the song was widely praised, with many considering it a turning point in her career, helping to redefine her image and showcasing a more confident and glamorous persona.
