The Bollywood dance scene is currently buzzing with controversy surrounding the song "Laal Pari" from the upcoming movie Housefull 5. Choreographed by Remo D'Souza, the high-energy dance number featuring Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez, among other stars, has become a viral sensation. However, the song's success is now shadowed by accusations of plagiarism.

News reports indicate that dance influencer Sandip Brahamin has publicly accused Remo D'Souza of copying his signature dance move in "Laal Pari" without giving him credit. Brahamin posted a comparison video online, highlighting the similarities between his move and one featured in the song. He has also asked his followers for support in bringing the alleged plagiarism to light. As of today, June 9, 2025, neither Remo D'Souza nor the film's producers have responded to Brahamin's claims.

This isn't the first time the choreography in "Laal Pari" has come under scrutiny. Social media users have also pointed out similarities between Jacqueline Fernandez's dance steps and those of Nora Fatehi, with some claiming that certain steps were copied verbatim from trending Instagram reels and online dance routines. This has led to a broader discussion about Bollywood's reliance on social media trends and the importance of crediting digital artists for their work. Despite the controversies, "Laal Pari" remains popular, with many praising its catchy rhythm and the energy of the performers.

Adding to the challenges surrounding "Laal Pari," the song was also at the center of a copyright claim that led to the temporary removal of the Housefull 5 teaser from YouTube. Mofusion Studios claimed ownership of the song, leading to a legal dispute with the film's producers, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE). Yo Yo Honey Singh, the composer of "Laal Pari," stepped in to clarify that he is the sole rights holder and had exclusively licensed the song to NGE. NGE has since filed a defamation suit against Mofusion Studios and YouTube, seeking damages for the takedown of the teaser. The production house argues that the removal was unfair, especially considering their verified YouTube channel's lack of any history of copyright misuse.

The series of controversies surrounding "Laal Pari" has raised questions about copyright, originality, and the evolving relationship between Bollywood and the digital dance community. While it remains to be seen how these issues will be resolved, they highlight the increasing importance of recognizing and compensating digital artists in the age of viral trends. The film Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025.
