Suriya is reportedly set to collaborate with director Jithu Madhavan for his next project, tentatively titled Suriya47. Recent updates suggest that Suriya will be playing a cop in this film, marking his return to the police role after the Singam franchise. The film is touted to be a quirky and high-octane cop-action narrative, blending mass entertainment with Jithu Madhavan's trademark style.
The project is generating buzz as it also marks Suriya's Malayalam debut, with the film being shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Tamil. Jithu Madhavan, known for directing the hit movies Aavesham and Romancham, has reportedly narrated the script to Suriya, who has given his nod.
Filming for Suriya47 is expected to commence in November or December 2025, with the first phase of shooting scheduled to take place in Kerala. The project aims to bring together several actors and crew members from the Malayalam film industry, adding a unique flavor to the movie. Pre-production work is already underway.
Kalaipuli S Thanu will produce the film under V Creations, in association with Suriya's 2D Entertainment. An official announcement regarding the film is expected by the end of the year, possibly coinciding with Suriya's birthday. Sushin Shyam, known for his work in Malayalam cinema, will be making his Tamil debut as the music director for Suriya47.
Suriya is currently working on several projects, including Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, which is slated for a Diwali 2025 release. He is also working on Suriya46 with director Venky Atluri. There are reports suggesting that Suriya may also make his Bollywood debut after Suriya47.
The cinematography for Suriya47 will be handled by GK Vishnu, with editing by R. Kalaivanan. Sai Abhyankkar will be composing the musical tracks and scores. While the official release date is yet to be confirmed, there are speculations about an OTT release in 2026, potentially for Pongal, which could lead to a clash with Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan.
