Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, also known as "The Rebel Kid," recently shared a distressing experience on social media regarding an incident at an airport. Mukhija, who is currently appearing on the reality show "The Traitors," alleges that an airline staff member denied her an emergency exit row seat based on a discriminatory assessment of her appearance.

According to Mukhija's account, the staff member stated that emergency seats are not given to "disabled bodies." Mukhija, taken aback, responded that she was fully able, at least physically. The staff member allegedly countered with a statement implying Mukhija looked sick, using the phrase "Aapki shakal dekh ke lag raha hai" which translates to "It shows on your face."

Mukhija expressed her shock and offense at the staff member's assumptions and discriminatory remarks. She questioned the basis for the assessment and found the entire interaction highly inappropriate, noting the staff member was surprised when Mukhija took offense and, in turn, became offended herself.

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, sparking outrage and discussions about body shaming and discrimination within the service industry. Many users have voiced their support for Mukhija, criticizing the airline's employee's behavior as unprofessional and unacceptable.

This is not the first time Mukhija has faced public challenges. Earlier this year, she was embroiled in controversy following her appearance on the show "India's Got Latent," where crude comments were made by another panelist, Ranveer Allahbadia. The controversy resulted in legal complaints being filed against Mukhija and others involved. She also revealed that she was asked to vacate her apartment after building management cited frequent police visits to deliver legal notices as the reason. Mukhija stated that she was told "This is why we don't let bachelors or single women live here."

Mukhija has been open about the emotional and psychological toll these experiences have taken on her. She revealed that she suffered from sleep paralysis due to the stress and threats she received after the "India's Got Latent" controversy. She even shared screenshots of rape and death threats she received online, highlighting the severity of the abuse she faced.

The recent incident at the airport has reignited discussions about the challenges faced by public figures and the importance of sensitivity and respect in customer service interactions. It also underscores the need for greater awareness and accountability in addressing discriminatory practices based on appearance or perceived disability. As of today, June 23, 2025, the airline has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
