Suneel Darshan, a prominent writer, producer, and director in Bollywood, recently recounted an interesting incident from his long-standing professional relationship with actor Akshay Kumar. Darshan revealed that he signed Akshay for the film Jaanwar at a time when the actor was facing a series of flops and was struggling to find his footing in the industry.

According to Darshan, Akshay Kumar's career was in a slump before Jaanwar, with many considering him a "flop actor". Several of his films were stalled midway, and he was readily available for work. Darshan saw potential in him and decided to cast him in Jaanwar. He believed in Kumar's dedication and was confident he could extract the best out of him.

After the success of Jaanwar, rumors circulated that Suneel Darshan was planning a new film with a different, upcoming actor. Hearing this, Akshay Kumar visited Darshan's office. Kumar expressed his concerns and, in a gesture of commitment, held Darshan's hand and promised to do 100 films with him. Darshan was touched by this gesture, seeing it as a sign that Kumar had transformed into a dedicated actor. He jokingly said that it was probably how he proposed to women.

Darshan felt that at that point in time, he was Akshay's best bet. The promise highlighted the camaraderie, trust, and respect between them. Darshan and Kumar went on to collaborate on several successful films, solidifying their position as one of Bollywood's iconic director-actor partnerships. Their collaborations include hit films like Jaanwar, Ek Rishtaa, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Talaash, Andaaz, Dosti, and Mere Jeevan Saathi.

While their professional relationship spanned seven years and seven films, Darshan noted that it didn't end on a positive note. He has also previously alluded to external factors, such as Akshay's wife not being pleased with him working with Priyanka Chopra.

Despite the eventual fallout, Darshan fondly remembers the time he and Akshay worked together. Akshay Kumar's commitment to Suneel Darshan, exemplified by his promise, underscores the strong bond they developed early in Kumar's career. It serves as a reminder that, beyond the glamour of the film industry, relationships built on trust, loyalty, and mutual respect can endure.
