Vishal Dadlani's musical journey began in 1994 as the frontman of the Mumbai-based indie rock band Pentagram. The band gained recognition as one of the pioneers of Indian independent music. In 1999, Dadlani partnered with Shekhar Ravjiani to form the Bollywood composing and producing music duo Vishal-Shekhar. Together, they have composed music for Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Marathi films. Some of their notable works include Jhankaar Beats (2003), Dus (2005), Bluffmaster (2005), Om Shanti Om (2007), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), Dostana (2008), Ra. One (2011), and Chennai Express (2013). The duo has produced over 300 songs, 60 films, and 1,000 worldwide shows.

Dadlani has also had a successful career as a playback singer, with his first break in the movie Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
