Namrata Shirodkar, actress and wife of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, recently shared her thoughts on Priyanka Chopra's new film, Heads of State, calling it "amazing". This endorsement comes as Chopra is set to share screen space with Mahesh Babu in director SS Rajamouli's upcoming film, tentatively titled SSMB29.
Heads of State, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 2, 2025, is an action-comedy featuring Chopra alongside John Cena and Idris Elba. The film follows a somewhat textbook plot, with the President of the United States (Cena) and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (Elba) setting aside their differences and relying on each other when they become targets of a powerful enemy. Chopra plays Noel Bisset, a brilliant MI6 agent who allies with them to thwart a global conspiracy. Other cast members include Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, and Carla Gugino.
Shirodkar took to Instagram to share her review, stating, "You were absolutely amazing @priyankachopra! Totally rocked it! Loved the movie @johncena @idriselba #HeadsofState". Chopra responded by re-sharing the story on her own Instagram account and thanking Shirodkar, calling her "queen".
Directed by Ilya Naishuller, Heads of State blends humor, emotion, and intense action sequences. Critics have described it as an entertaining action comedy that leans into the absurdity of its genre. The film has received generally mixed reviews. While some appreciate its unapologetically fun execution and the cast's performances, others feel it would have been better suited for a theatrical release, given its star power and extravagant set pieces.
The film's release coincides with the buzz surrounding SSMB29, Rajamouli's grand project that will see Chopra and Mahesh Babu collaborate for the first time. The film is said to be inspired by the Indiana Jones series and Hindu mythology, with Mahesh Babu's character potentially resembling Lord Hanuman. SSMB29 is envisioned as a globe-trotting jungle adventure, with Prithviraj Sukumaran expected to play the main antagonist. The film is currently in production, with shooting locations including Odisha and Hyderabad. It is anticipated to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
Meanwhile, Chopra has been preparing for SSMB29 by learning the Mayurbhanj Chhau dance form. Choreographer Vicky Bhartiya praised Chopra's dedication and work ethic during rehearsals.
