Vipin Sharma, celebrated for his portrayal of the stern father in "Taare Zameen Par," is garnering accolades for his unexpected role in "Dhadak 2". In the film, which explores caste discrimination and social exclusion, Sharma plays a cross-dressing father, delivering a performance that is being lauded by audiences and critics alike.

Sharma expressed surprise and gratitude for the positive reception to his role in "Dhadak 2". He stated that the role felt natural and didn't require extensive research, also acknowledging his fortune in collaborating with filmmakers who create unique and important stories.

This role marks a significant departure from Sharma's previous work, particularly his role in "Taare Zameen Par." His character in "Dhadak 2" is gentle, personal, and emotional. Despite limited screen time with his son, played by Neelesh, the emotional connection between them is palpable. Sharma explained that the challenge was to portray a relationship that is largely unseen, relying on subtle gestures and emotions to convey the bond between father and son.

Sharma reflected on his career since "Taare Zameen Par," revealing his desire to showcase a different side of himself, infusing more warmth and love into his roles. He emphasized the importance of using his genuine feelings of respect and affection for his co-actors, which he found particularly helpful in this role. One comment that deeply touched him was the recognition of the tenderness in his character, highlighting the loving bond between father and son.

Sharma shared that the role in "Dhadak 2" was familiar to him because he grew up in a similar environment. He remembers the struggles of lower-caste citizens being marginalized and connects deeply with those feelings. He recalled how it took him three hours to muster the courage to enter the Doordarshan building in Delhi to inquire about hosting a 10-minute program on Yuva Vani.

"Dhadak 2" is adapted from the Tamil film "Pariyerum Perumal" and directed by Shazia Iqbal. The film features Triptii Dimri, Saurabh Sachdeva, Zakir Hussain, and Harish Khanna and is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Critics have noted that "Dhadak 2" surpasses its predecessor, "Dhadak" (2018), in its exploration of caste dynamics in love stories.

Vipin Sharma's decision to take on the role of a cross-dressing father in "Dhadak 2" was partly motivated by a desire to "redeem" himself after "Taare Zameen Par". He has been striving to showcase his versatility and break away from being typecast. Sharma has always fought to show that he is more than just an angry father, and is grateful to filmmakers who have presented him in different roles. He believes he has been fortunate to work with filmmakers who bring important narratives to the screen.
