Recent reports suggesting the imminent Indian release of "Aabeer Gulaal," starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, have been refuted by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). The PIB issued a fact-check clarifying that no clearance has been granted for the film's release in India. This announcement follows widespread speculation that the romantic comedy would be released in Indian cinemas on September 26, 2025.

"Aabeer Gulaal" was initially scheduled for release on May 9, 2025. However, the film's release was delayed due to heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack in April 2025. The attack resulted in significant casualties and led to calls for a ban on Pakistani artists in Indian cinema.

The film's worldwide premiere took place on September 12, 2025, excluding India. This led to disappointment among Indian fans who were eagerly awaiting Fawad Khan's return to Bollywood after eight years. His last Bollywood appearance was in "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" in 2016. After that film's release, the Uri attack strained cultural ties, resulting in a ban on Pakistani artists in India.

"Aabeer Gulaal" is directed by Aarti S. Bagdi and produced by Vivek Agrawal. The film features a supporting cast including Riddhi Dogra, Lisa Haydon, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan, and Parmeet Sethi. The romantic comedy revolves around Gulaal (Vaani Kapoor), who escapes an arranged marriage and finds herself in London. There, she meets Aabeer (Fawad Khan), a reserved restaurateur with a troubled past.

Despite the controversies, "Aabeer Gulaal" has generated buzz. Touted as a heartfelt romantic drama, the movie explores themes of second chances and unexpected connections. The music for the film is composed by Amit Trivedi, with lyrics penned by Kumaar.

Earlier reports suggested that the team of Indian Stories Limited (UK) decided to release the film in India on September 26, expressing confidence that its "simple, sweet love story" would resonate with Indian audiences. It was also reported that the film would enjoy a solo run at the box office due to the lack of other major releases that week.

However, the PIB's fact-check has now quashed these reports, leaving the Indian release of "Aabeer Gulaal" in continued uncertainty.
