Sunny Deol's Border 2 Advance Ticket Sales Soar: 55,000 Tickets Sold at National Chains.

The upcoming patriotic film Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, is generating significant buzz at the box office, with advance bookings indicating a strong opening. The movie, a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, is set to hit theaters on January 23, 2026, just in time for the Republic Day weekend.

As of January 21, 2026, Border 2 had already sold approximately 55,000 tickets across the national chains PVR Inox and Cinepolis. Overall, the first day advances stand at approximately ₹4 crore nett. Early box office estimates suggest the film has grossed ₹3.39 crore in Day 1 advance bookings from its 2D format. With blocked seats included, the total surges to an impressive ₹6.63 crore. By early afternoon on January 21, the film had sold 117,479 tickets for its opening day.

Border 2 has opened in approximately 9,000 shows across India, with more being added as the release date approaches. The film is reportedly selling 3,000 tickets per hour on BookMyShow.

The National Capital Region (NCR) is leading in advance bookings, with a gross of ₹1.55 crore (including block seats) and 8% real occupancy across 1,068 shows. Mumbai follows with ₹66.89 lakh, and Bengaluru with ₹27.19 lakh. Kolkata has grossed ₹26.33 lakh, with a real occupancy of 9% in 159 shows. Delhi has taken the lead over Mumbai to score an estimated ₹91.68 lakh in advance bookings with the total expected to rise to ₹1.48 crore with blocked seats. Maharashtra is second with ₹45.38 lakh and ₹1.05 crore with blocked seats, and Uttar Pradesh is third with ₹36.75 lakh, expected to rise to ₹69.22 lakh with blocked seats.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Pinkvilla predicts the film is expected to open in the vicinity of ₹30 crore to ₹37 crore, with a pinpoint forecast of ₹32 crore net in India.

Compared to Sunny Deol's previous film, Gadar 2, Border 2 is currently trailing in advance bookings. Gadar 2 had advance sales of 274,000 tickets for its opening day and went on to earn over ₹500 crore at the box office. However, Border 2's advance booking gross has already surpassed Deol's Jaat, which collected ₹2.4 crore in advance bookings. It is also outpacing Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar.

With the Republic Day weekend providing an extended holiday, Border 2 has the potential to build momentum and become a major success. The film's performance in the coming days will be closely watched to see if it can reach the projected ₹150,000 admissions in National Chains.
