Aaryamann Sethi's Battle: Archana Puran Singh's Son Shares His Depression and Panic Attack Experience.

In a recent and candid conversation, Aaryamann Sethi, son of actress Archana Puran Singh, has opened up about his battle with depression during his teenage years. The discussion shed light on the challenges he faced, offering a glimpse into a period marked by emotional and physical struggles.

Aaryamann's journey took a difficult turn when he was studying at a boarding school in London at the age of 13. A leg injury crushed his aspirations of a budding football career, as he had the opportunity to train with England's Queens Park Rangers and even represented India in the Asian Football Confederation's U-13 nine-nation tournament in 2009. This setback triggered a downward spiral, leading to depression and anxiety.

Archana Puran Singh recounted the emotional toll of witnessing her son's mental health decline. She described seeing "life and joy disappear" from his eyes, a period of darkness that deeply impacted both of them. Aaryamann isolated himself, rarely leaving his room for months, and his mother feared he wouldn't escape the darkness.

Aaryamann reflected on how people often dismissed his struggles, assuming that his privileged background—financial security and a supportive family—shielded him from genuine hardship. He emphasized that mental health issues can affect anyone, regardless of their circumstances and that his pain, emptiness, and setbacks were real and deeply affecting.

Adding to his challenges, Aaryamann revealed instances of racial discrimination he faced while in London. Despite the hurtful comments, he relied on the self-confidence instilled in him by his family to respond with composure.

Despite these challenges, Aaryamann is now focused on learning, growing, and cherishing every small victory. On August 14, 2025, he announced his engagement to Yogita, revealing that Archana passed on a family heirloom ring for the occasion.

Archana emphasized the importance of mental health, recalling how Aaryamann tried to hide his pain behind a joyful demeanor. She shared how he shed many tears and that people didn't know about the pain he was hiding. Aaryamann's story serves as a reminder that mental health should be a priority and that struggles are valid regardless of external perceptions of privilege and support.
