Madhur Bhandarkar Confirms Fatima Sana Shaikh's Absence From "The Wives," Explaining the Casting Decision Behind the Series

Recent reports have clarified that Fatima Sana Shaikh is not part of Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film, "The Wives". Director Madhur Bhandarkar himself addressed the rumors, stating that the reports of her casting were "untrue" and that she "never signed the film or was never roped in to play one of the wives in the film".

"The Wives" has already wrapped up shooting and is currently in post-production. Bhandarkar has expressed his excitement for the audience to see the film. The film features Regina Cassandra, Sonali Kulkarni, and Mouni Roy in leading roles. Arjan Bajwa, who previously worked with Bhandarkar in the 2008 film 'Fashion', also plays a significant role. Other cast members include Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Freddy Daruwala.

Madhur Bhandarkar is known for his films that explore the glamorous world of Bollywood, often focusing on the hidden realities and struggles behind the scenes. His notable works include "Page 3," "Heroine," and "Calendar Girls". "The Wives" continues this trend, aiming to "uncover yet another glamorous layer of society and show what really lies beneath". Bhandarkar describes the film as "a bold, unapologetic look at the secrets, struggles, and resilience of women who are often seen but seldom heard". The film will focus on the personal experiences and quiet struggles of women married to Bollywood's most prominent figures.

"The Wives" marks Bhandarkar's second collaboration with producer Pranav Jain of P J Motion Pictures, following their previous film "India Lockdown".

Meanwhile, Fatima Sana Shaikh has several other projects in the pipeline. These include "Metro… In Dino" alongside Ali Fazal, and "Gustaakh Ishq" with Vijay Varma, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sharib Hashmi, which is slated for release in November. She also starred in "Aap Jaisa Koi" opposite R Madhavan.
