Dhanashree Verma, the Indian YouTuber, dancer, and choreographer, has recently addressed the persistent issue of online harassment and negativity, asserting her resilience in the face of "hate comments and trolls". In a powerful statement, Verma, who is also the wife of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, conveyed her determination to rise above the negativity and focus on her truth and values.
Verma has been the target of social media trolls, with instances ranging from criticism of her pictures to accusations of being a "gold digger". Recently, rumors of a possible divorce between her and Chahal surfaced and spread rapidly after the couple unfollowed each other on social media. This led to a barrage of baseless accusations and character assassination, which Verma described as incredibly tough for her and her family.
In response to the relentless trolling and fake news, Verma took to social media to express her disappointment and anger. She emphasized that the "baseless writing, devoid of fact checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate" had deeply affected her. Verma highlighted that she has worked hard over the years to build her name and integrity, and such negativity undermines her efforts.
Despite the challenges, Verma remains resolute. "My silence is not a sign of weakness; but of strength," she stated, emphasizing her focus on moving forward with her values intact. She added that "While negativity spreads easily online, it takes courage and compassion to uplift others".
Verma has also addressed the trolls who called her a "gold digger" after her divorce with Yuzvendra Chahal, stating that people don't know what actually happened and they keep on commenting. She said that social media trolls do bother her sometimes, but in the bigger picture, it doesn't have an impact in the long run.
This isn't the first time Verma has spoken out against online harassment. In March 2024, she posted a video on Instagram discussing the backlash she faced after some pictures went viral. In one photo, she was seen with choreographer Pratik Utekar, which led to criticism from some of Chahal's fans. Verma expressed that the situation had taken a toll on her and her family, leading her to take a break from social media to find peace.
Verma urged people to be more sensitive and refrain from spreading hatred, emphasizing the importance of using social media platforms responsibly. "So, just don't forget that I am also just a woman, just like your mother, sister, friend, wife and this is not done, and it's not fair," she said. "And I am known as a fighter and I never give up. Here I am and I am not going to give up again. But spread love, be sensitive about a few things and don't spread hate".
Despite the negativity, Dhanashree Verma remains committed to her work and personal growth. She emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself and not letting negativity define one's path.
