Pawan Kalyan Confirms OG Universe Expansion: Sequel and Prequel Planned Following Box Office Triumph, Details Revealed.

Following the smashing box office success of "OG" (They Call Him OG), Power Star Pawan Kalyan has officially confirmed that the film will be expanded into a franchise with both a prequel and a sequel in development. The announcement was made at a success meet held in Hyderabad to celebrate the film's impressive performance.

"OG," directed by Sujeeth, features Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a former gangster who returns to Mumbai to confront a new threat. The film also marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, who plays the antagonist Omi. The cast includes Priyanka Mohan, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj. Released on September 25, the movie has been enjoying steady collections even in its second week.

The film's opening week was a record-breaking one, with earnings exceeding ₹160 crore. "OG" took a fabulous start, earning ₹21 crore from premiere shows, the highest amount for premiere shows in India. On its release day, "They Call Him OG" stormed past ₹100 crore in India, setting a record for Pawan Kalyan's career. By its seventh day, the film had grossed over ₹160 crore worldwide. As of October 3, 2025, the movie collected 7.50 crore rupees on its eighth day. Its total domestic collection now stands at 169.10 crore rupees. The film has surpassed Prabhas's "Saaho" in terms of collections, claiming the 7th spot of highest-grossing Telugu films.

At the success meet, Pawan Kalyan expressed his excitement about expanding the "OG" story and creating a franchise. He shared that he was motivated to continue the "OG" world, spurred by the film's positive reception and commercial success. "It is easy to write a story, but it is difficult to bring it to life on screen," Kalyan said. He also added, "So I confirm that let us work on a sequel and prequel to OG. I know how frustrating it can be when a film fails but OG has given me the motivation to do films again. I want to continue the OG world in the time I get".

Pawan Kalyan also recalled the initial narration of the story, "Sujeeth told me, 'You will be [a] gangster in a Japanese attire, holding a sword and carrying a gun". He admitted that he did not fully understand the story at that time, but when he saw his son reading the notes with joy, he realized that there is relevance to this story for this generation.

The music for "OG," composed by Thaman S, has also been widely praised, with many fans crediting it for elevating the impact of the action sequences.
