Yuzvendra Chahal Jests About 4 Cr Alimony From Ex-Wife Dhanashree After Court Ruling: 'Promise...'

The recent divorce between Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma has been finalized, with details emerging about the settlement and the couple's journey. The Bombay High Court expedited the divorce proceedings, waiving the mandatory six-month cooling-off period, allowing the couple to move forward swiftly.

As part of the divorce settlement, Chahal is set to pay Verma ₹4.75 crore in alimony. According to reports, ₹2.37 crore has already been paid. The court has directed that the remaining amount be paid upon the finalization of the divorce.

Following the verdict, a video has surfaced where Yuzvendra Chahal is seen seemingly taking a dig at his ex-wife, Dhanashree, regarding the alimony. In the video, Chahal is seen with a group of friends when he says, "Maa Kasam Khao...mujhe kya hi pata tha 4 Crore Dena Padega (Swear on your mother...how would I know that I'd have to pay 4 crores)."

The divorce marks the end of a relationship that began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Chahal and Dhanashree met through dance classes, with Chahal initially becoming a student of Verma's online dance sessions. Their connection deepened, leading to a surprise engagement and subsequent marriage in December 2020.

The couple's initial years of marriage were filled with public displays of affection and mutual support, making them a popular couple on social media. Dhanashree was often seen supporting Chahal at his IPL matches. However, in 2023, signs of strain began to appear, with the couple making fewer joint appearances and cryptic social media posts hinting at possible discord. Rumors of a divorce surfaced when Dhanashree removed "Chahal" from her Instagram bio, and Yuzvendra shared a cryptic message about "New Life Loading".

Chahal has spoken about the challenges of balancing his career with the demands of a relationship, stating that both he and Dhanashree were deeply focused on their individual careers, which led to an emotional disconnect. In an interview, Chahal admitted that the divorce was the result of two years of difficulties and that he might have faked aspects of the relationship to avoid judgment. He also expressed his fear of loving again, citing the pain of past attachments.

Dhanashree has also addressed the divorce, discussing the negative comments she faced on social media and the support she received from her family and friends. She remains open to finding love again and is focusing on her individual life.

The Bombay High Court's decision to expedite the divorce proceedings took into consideration Chahal's commitments with the Indian Premier League (IPL), ensuring that the matter was resolved before the start of the tournament. The court noted that the couple had been living separately since June 2022.
