Parmeet Sethi, known for his role in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge," has jokingly said that he plans to charge Kapil Sharma a royalty fee for the frequent mentions of his name on Sharma's show. Sethi jestingly claims he has become a recurring character on the show without even being physically present.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Sethi was asked about Kapil Sharma's tendency to poke fun at his wife, Archana Puran Singh, and how he often uses Sethi's name in the jokes. Sethi responded humorously, stating, "He should pay me royalty! I ask him to give me a royalty. He uses my name so much that even though I'm not physically present, I have become a character in that show". He added, "I keep telling Kapil to start paying me royalty for the show, because I am a character in it without even being there. It's fun, and I am happy that I can be of some use somewhere".
Sethi also reflected on his experience in comedy writing, noting that he used to write scripts and supervise the stand-up routines for his wife, Archana Puran Singh, on her show, "Archana Talkies". He mentioned that the show, which aired on Sony TV, was similar to Kapil Sharma's show, featuring celebrity interviews and stand-up comedy. Sethi said, "It was no shock that Kapil cracked a lot of jokes on Archana at my expense. Look, the first production house that Archana and I set up was called Archana Talkies... Whatever she was doing in that, Kapil is doing exactly that for his show".
Despite the jokes at his and his wife's expense, Sethi holds a warm and familial relationship with Kapil Sharma and his family. "It is like family. Kapil is a sweetheart. Ginni (Kapil's wife) is a sweetheart, his mother; they are all wonderful people, very homely. They love and respect us deeply, and we feel exactly the same way about them,” Sethi said. He added, "Our relationship is beyond work". Sethi also acknowledged Sharma's talent for improvisation and comedic timing, calling him a "natural" who "doesn't need a script".
Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi have been together for over 30 years and have also ventured into creating content for YouTube, launching a vlog channel. Archana's channel has garnered a significant following, with nearly a million subscribers.
Sethi and Singh had kept their marriage a secret initially due to the norms in the film industry, where married actresses were often sidelined. They eventually announced their marriage when Archana was pregnant with their son, Aaryamann.
