Global music icon Enrique Iglesias has landed in Mumbai for a highly anticipated two-day concert at the MMRDA Grounds on October 29th and 30th. This marks the Grammy-winning artist's return to India after 13 years, much to the delight of his legions of fans.
Iglesias was spotted at Mumbai's Kalina Airport on Tuesday, greeted by a swarm of paparazzi. Looking relaxed and stylish in a grey t-shirt, matching joggers, a grey cap, and black sunglasses, the singer paused to pose for photos and greeted the photographers with a traditional 'namaste'. He even shared a video on his Instagram, showing him greeting the paparazzi with a 'namaste' gesture.
"I've missed performing in India," Iglesias said in a press note. "The fans there are some of the most loyal and passionate in the world. Since my first show back in 2004, the love has always been unreal. I can't wait to get back to Mumbai and bring them this new show".
The concerts are expected to draw approximately 50,000 fans over the two days. Due to high demand, organizers added a second show on October 29th after the October 30th concert reportedly sold out quickly. Gates are scheduled to open at 4:00 PM, with the shows beginning at 6:30 PM.
A star-studded guest list is expected, with numerous Bollywood celebrities reportedly planning to attend the event. Confirmed attendees include Ranveer Singh, Ananya Panday, Kiara Advani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Malaika Arora, Tamannaah Bhatia, Arbaaz Khan, Nargis Fakhri, Shraddha Kapoor, Rasha Thadani, and members of the Ambani family. "The VVIP lounge is completely houseful across both days," revealed a source close to the organizers. "The response has been phenomenal, with Bollywood's biggest names and influential personalities ensuring they don't miss out on this historic concert".
The concerts will feature opening performances by Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi and the EDM duo Progressive Brothers. Fans can anticipate a setlist packed with Iglesias's biggest hits, including "Hero," "Bailamos," "Escape," "Addicted," "Rhythm Divine," and "Tonight".
According to a source, Iglesias is also planning to extend his stay in India to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, a monument he regretted missing during his previous visit.
Iglesias' return to Mumbai has been met with enthusiasm. Many fans recall growing up listening to his music and consider his songs to be comforting and nostalgic. "Enrique is comforting. Enrique is home. We grew up listening to this artist," shared one fan.
This Mumbai concert is part of a larger tour for Iglesias, who will head to Abu Dhabi for a show on November 1st.
