The first look at "Operation Safed Sagar," an upcoming Indian Air Force (IAF) war series starring Siddharth and Jimmy Shergill, has been unveiled. The series, set against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War, promises to bring to life the bravery, strategic brilliance, and sacrifices made during the conflict.
The unveiling occurred during the first-ever Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon 2025 in New Delhi on Sunday. The marathon celebrated the spirit of the IAF and its critical role in the Kargil War. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, along with senior members of the force and the film's creative team, attended the event held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
"Operation Safed Sagar" is based on the pivotal mission conducted by the IAF during the 1999 Kargil War. It chronicles the precision airstrikes and collaborative efforts between the IAF and the Indian Army. The series, created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava, is directed by Oni Sen, known for his work on "Asur".
The cast includes Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, and Arnav Bhasin. Dia Mirza also stars in the series. The series is produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films, with support from the Indian Air Force.
Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh congratulated Netflix on launching the series, noting the IAF's professionalism in achieving the Kargil heights during an air battle at the highest altitude. Sanjay Routray, co-founder of Matchbox Shots, emphasized that the show is about courage, sacrifice, and transformation, not just war.
The series was shot across real IAF bases and features MiG aircraft to maintain authenticity. The show is expected to stream on Netflix in 2026. A teaser for the series has been released.
