Sharwanand, the Telugu actor, has recently opened up about his inspiring journey of weight loss and how fatherhood has shifted his perspective on health. In a recent interview, the actor shared details about his transformation after a skydiving accident in 2019 led to him gaining weight, and how the birth of his daughter motivated him to prioritize his well-being.
In 2019, while performing a skydiving stunt in Thailand for the Telugu remake of the movie "96", Sharwanand suffered a severe shoulder injury due to a parachute malfunction. The accident necessitated surgery and months of rehabilitation. During this period, his weight increased to 92 kilos.
"The accident changed everything for me," Sharwanand stated in an interview with Hyderabad Times. He explained that being on antibiotics for an extended period increased his hunger, leading to significant weight gain. "I didn't realize how much I had changed until much later," he added.
About two years ago, Sharwanand was offered a role in the film "Biker," where he had to portray an 18-year-old. This became the catalyst for his transformation. "I didn't want to just shave my beard and call it transformation. I wanted to earn it". He embarked on a rigorous fitness journey, adopting a disciplined routine.
Sharwanand began waking up at 4:30 a.m. to run three laps at KBR Park, covering approximately 12 kilometers. When not shooting, he engaged in gym training from noon to one and took another long walk in the evening, covering nearly 24 kilometers daily. He maintained this routine for almost eight months without a break, which he credits for teaching him consistency, patience, and focus.
However, the most significant turning point in his fitness journey came after the birth of his daughter, Leela Devi Myneni, in March of last year with his wife, Rakshita Reddy. "After my daughter was born, I realised how important health really is," Sharwanand shared. "I had never worked out before in my life, but that phase made me introspect deeply. It made me focus on my health, my body and my soul. Today, health is not just a goal for me, it's a way of life. I want to stay strong and present for my family, and that's what keeps me going".
Diet was another significant challenge for the actor, who admits to being a "foodie". However, he learned to balance his love for food with his fitness goals. "I don't believe in starving myself. You should enjoy food, but balance it with effort. Eat what you love and make sure you earn it back," he explained. Sharwanand typically has one proper meal a day, a protein shake in the afternoon, and a light dinner. If he indulges, he ensures he burns it off the same day. He believes that fitness is 70% food and 30% training, emphasizing that even extensive workouts are ineffective without a proper diet.
Over two years, Sharwanand lost approximately 22 kilos, averaging about one kilo per month. More than the physical transformation, he values the mental shift that accompanied it. The actor's journey underscores the importance of discipline, consistency, and a balanced approach to health and fitness. His commitment to his family, especially his daughter, has solidified his dedication to a healthy lifestyle. Currently, Sharwanand is busy with three films: "Biker", "Nari Nari Naduma Murari", and "Bhogi", and also manages his wellness company.
