In a recent interview, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri opened up about his experiences working with Anurag Kashyap on the 2007 film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, revealing that Kashyap's drinking habits created a challenging environment on set. Agnihotri, known for his controversial films The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, shared his insights during a discussion about Kashyap's recent remarks regarding Brahmins.

Agnihotri stated that he was unsure of Kashyap's current mental state, recalling that during Goal, Kashyap "used to drink a lot at that time and had no sense of time." He elaborated that Kashyap's excessive drinking made him difficult to handle, leading to creative differences and ultimately impacting the film's direction.

Agnihotri recounted that Kashyap brought Vikramaditya Motwane onto the project, initially stating that Motwane would assist with the work. However, according to Agnihotri, Kashyap gradually delegated all the work to Motwane, leading to a divergence in their creative visions. Agnihotri stated that what he wanted to create was different from what Kashyap and Motwane envisioned.

Tensions escalated as their creative differences deepened. Agnihotri recalled that the production house eventually had a conversation with Kashyap, as he had become difficult to manage. Agnihotri suggested that "only an alcoholic knows what an alcoholic goes through," implying a deeper understanding of the challenges Kashyap faced at the time.

In the interview, Agnihotri stated that he and Kashyap have maintained a cordial relationship despite their past disagreements, though he noted that Kashyap has made certain comments about him on social media.

Notably, Kashyap has previously spoken about his struggles with alcohol. In a recent interaction at Annapurna College of Film and Media, Kashyap confirmed that he has since given up alcohol. He revealed that he became an alcoholic while dealing with various challenges in the film industry and sought help at a de-addiction center, which ultimately provided him with new insights into his writing process.

Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, directed by Agnihotri, featured a cast including John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Arshad Warsi, and Boman Irani. The film explored themes of racism, identity, and community through the sport of football.

Currently, Vivek Agnihotri is preparing for the release of The Delhi Files – Bengal Chapter, starring Mithun Chakraborty. Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap is set to appear as the antagonist in Dacoit: A Love Story, alongside Adivi Sesh.
