Varun Dhawan has showered praise on the recently released Bollywood film Saiyaara, particularly highlighting the performances of debutant actor Ahaan Panday. Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in leading roles and was released in theaters on July 18, 2025.

Dhawan took to social media to express his admiration for the film, stating he felt a "film hangover" after watching it. He commended Suri's direction and lauded Ahaan Panday's honest and captivating performance, stating that Panday had him hooked in every scene. He also praised Aneet Padda, noting her ability to melt hearts with her expressions.

Ahaan Panday, overwhelmed by the positive feedback, responded to Dhawan's review, calling it a "full circle moment".

Saiyaara marks a significant milestone for both Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, as it is their Bollywood debut. The film is a romantic drama that tells the story of Vaani (Aneet Padda), who is recovering from being left by her fiancé, and Krish (Ahaan Panday), a struggling musician. They come together through music, bonding over shared dreams and emotional scars. As their relationship deepens, they face challenges, including a health crisis that tests their love and resilience.

The movie has been described as having an Aashiqui-like vibe, with sizzling chemistry between the lead actors. The film's music, composed by Mithoon, Sachet-Parampara, Rishabh Kant, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami, has also been well-received, contributing significantly to the film's buzz.

Saiyaara has garnered positive reviews from other Bollywood personalities as well. Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar have also praised the film. Alia Bhatt expressed awe for Ahaan and Aneet's performances, lauding their individuality and honesty. Karan Johar admitted to being moved to tears and celebrated the film for bringing love back to the silver screen.

The film has also achieved commercial success, with a strong opening weekend collection of ₹83 crore, making it the biggest Bollywood hit ever to feature two debutant leads. On its opening day, the movie earned ₹21 crore. The film's success is attributed to its authentic storytelling, emotional depth, and captivating music, which have resonated with audiences.

Despite the praise, some critics have noted that the direction and writing lack the depth that Mohit Suri is known for. Some felt that the emotional build-up was rushed, and some plot points were unearned. However, the performances of the lead actors, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, have been widely commended for their emotional authenticity and chemistry.

Saiyaara's digital rights have been acquired by Netflix, where it will be available for streaming after its theatrical run.
