Dulquer Salmaan's fans are in for a treat as the teaser for his highly anticipated biopic, Kaantha, has been censored and is expected to be released on July 28, coinciding with the actor's birthday. Kaantha is a period drama set in Madras (now Chennai) in the 1950s. The film delves into the life of M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, an iconic figure regarded as the first superstar of Tamil cinema, and Dulquer Salmaan will be portraying the highs and lows of the actor's life.

The teaser has a runtime of 2 minutes and 14 seconds and offers a glimpse into the world of M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar. Kaantha is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, known for his Netflix documentary series, The Hunt for Veerappan.

Kaantha also marks a collaboration between Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films and Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media. Rana Daggubati has praised Dulquer Salmaan's casting, stating that he was the perfect fit for the role. Dulquer was initially brought on board as the lead actor but later joined the production team as a co-producer.

While an official theatrical release date is yet to be confirmed, there is speculation that Kaantha will be released on August 1, 2025. The film is expected to be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil. Besides Dulquer Salmaan, the cast includes Rana Daggubati, Bhagyashri Borse, and Samuthirakani. Bhagyashri Borse will be playing a character named 'Kumari'.
