Ajay Devgn's comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2, which released in theaters on August 1, 2025, is confirmed to stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. The OTT platform has secured the rights to stream the film approximately eight weeks after its theatrical release, potentially in the first week of October 2025.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Son of Sardaar 2 is a standalone sequel to the 2012 film Son of Sardaar. The film features Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Sanjay Mishra, and includes a posthumous appearance by Mukul Dev. Son of Sardaar 2 follows Jassi (Ajay Devgn) as he navigates new challenges in Scotland. The storyline involves Jassi faking being a war hero to help a couple gain their parents' approval for their marriage.
The film's music is composed by Jaani, Tanishk Bagchi, Harsh Upadhyay, Lijo George - DJ Chetas, Tejwant Kittu, Jay Mavani, and Sunny Vik, with the background score by Amar Mohile and Salil Amrute. Several singles from the film, including the title track, "Pehla Tu Duja Tu", "Nachdi", "The Po Po Song", and "Nazar Battu", were released in July 2025.
Initially scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, the film's release was postponed to August 1, 2025. The postponement was reportedly due to the strong box office performance of Saiyaara, which limited the availability of screeners for Son of Sardaar 2. Son of Sardaar 2 was released alongside Dhadak 2, creating a clash at the box office. To attract audiences, both Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2 offered 50% discounts on ticket prices.
The film's journey to the screen wasn't without its challenges. Sanjay Dutt, who was part of the first installment, could not feature in the sequel due to visa issues and was replaced by Ravi Kishan.
Despite these challenges, Son of Sardaar 2 is expected to bring a mix of action, comedy, and romance to audiences.
