Beyoncé has won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming for her work on "Beyoncé Bowl," the Netflix Christmas Day NFL halftime show. The Television Academy announced the winners from its juried categories on August 12, 2025. These categories, including animation, costume, emerging media program, and motion design, are screened by a panel of professionals who deliberate and discuss the merits of awarding the Emmy.

The "Beyoncé Bowl" was a Western-themed halftime show during the Christmas Day NFL game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans, which took place in Beyoncé's hometown of Houston. The show marked the first live performance of songs from her Grammy-winning album, "Cowboy Carter". During the halftime show, she performed "Blackbiird," "16 Carriages," and "Ya Ya". She also brought out Post Malone for "Levii's Jeans" and Shaboozey for "Sweet Honey Buckiin'," and her daughter Blue Ivy joined her for the final song, "Texas Hold 'Em".

Beyoncé shares the Emmy win with costume designer Shiona Turini, assistant costume designers Erica Rice and Molly Peters, costume supervisor Chelsea Staebell, and head of workroom Timothy White. The Creative Arts Emmys, where the juried awards will be presented, will take place on September 6 and 7. FXX will air an edited version of the ceremonies on September 13.

This Emmy win marks a significant milestone for Beyoncé, bringing her halfway to achieving EGOT status, with 35 Grammy wins already under her belt. To complete the EGOT, she still needs a Tony Award and an Oscar. She previously received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for writing "Be Alive" for the film "King Richard".

Beyoncé is also nominated for two more Emmy Awards this year: Outstanding Variety Special (Live) as a producer for "Beyoncé Bowl" and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. The "Beyoncé Bowl" is up against two "Saturday Night Live" specials, "SNL50: The Anniversary Special" and "SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert," and "The Oscars," hosted by Conan O'Brien. Notably, she is also competing against her husband, Jay-Z, who is nominated as an executive producer of Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled to air live on September 14 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The broadcast will be available on CBS and to stream on Paramount+.

Beyoncé has been nominated for 10 Emmys without a win. In 2016, her "Lemonade" lost in the Outstanding Variety Special category to "The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special," and in 2019, "Homecoming" lost to "Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool".
