Today, August 13, 2025, marks the 62nd birth anniversary of Sridevi, the iconic actress celebrated as Indian cinema's first female superstar. Her sudden passing in 2018 left a void in the film industry, but her legacy continues to inspire millions.

Sridevi, born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on August 13, 1963, in Meenampatti, Tamil Nadu, began her career at the tender age of four. Over five decades, she captivated audiences with her versatility and charm, working across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Known for her reticent off-screen personality, she transformed into a force of nature on screen, often portraying strong-willed women.

On this special day, Boney Kapoor, her husband, shared a touching tribute on social media, continuing his annual tradition of honoring her memory. He posted a photo of Sridevi from her film 'English Vinglish' with a heartfelt message, "Yesssss You are not 62 today. You are 26 Happy birthday we are still reliving all your happy birthdays". He also reminisced about a birthday party from 1990, recalling how he playfully told Sridevi she was turning "26" even though she was 27, just to make her laugh.

Sridevi's family life was as cherished as her professional achievements. She married Boney Kapoor in June 1996 and had two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, who are now pursuing their own Bollywood careers. Janhvi is preparing for her upcoming film 'Param Sundari' with Sidharth Malhotra, set to release on August 29, 2025, while Khushi's recent film 'Nadaaniyaan', opposite Ibrahim Ali Khan, has received mixed reviews.

Sridevi maintained a close bond with her daughters, Janhvi and Khushi. Pictures capture Janhvi and Khushi at their candid best while posing for a family portrait with their parents. The actress' family holiday pictures capture precious moments of togetherness. Sridevi's last picture was taken in Dubai, just hours before her untimely demise. The actress was attending a family wedding and looked radiant in a traditional outfit, smiling alongside loved ones.

Sridevi was also close to her sister, Srilatha, and her mother, Rajeshwari. Sridevi campaigned for her father when he contested the Sivakasi constituency in the 1989 assembly elections. Her father died in 1990 of a heart attack, while she was shooting for Lamhe.

Before the term "pan-India" became popular, Sridevi had already established herself in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema, in addition to Hindi films. She broke norms by doing films like Sadma, Lamhe and Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. Sridevi never conformed to rules set in the past and brought a wave of grey-toned heroines with films like Laadla, Nagina and Judaai.

Sridevi's legacy extends beyond her filmography. She paved the way for other heroines to flourish and is remembered for pushing boundaries and compelling writers to think beyond the box. She attained global fame and was known for her versatility and charm on screen.

On her 62nd birth anniversary, Sridevi is fondly remembered by family, friends, and admirers. Her memory lives on through her timeless films and the cherished moments she shared with her loved ones.
