The wife of Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, Vijayalakshmi, has assured fans that he will return and has announced that she will be managing his social media accounts while he is in jail. This comes after Darshan's bail was cancelled and he was arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan, along with 17 others, including his friend Pavithra Gowda, has been implicated in the alleged murder of Renukaswamy.
Vijayalakshmi shared a message on social media, stating, "My Dear #DBoss Celebrities, your Challenging Star carries each one of you in his heart. Until he returns to connect with you directly, I will be handling his Social Media, to share updates and movie promotions on his behalf". She further added, "The love, prayers, and patience you continue to show give him and our family immense strength. Let's hold on to that unity and positivity--he will be back soon, with the same love and energy you've always known".
Through Vijayalakshmi's Instagram account, Darshan conveyed a message to his fans and the film industry. He assured the team of his upcoming film "The Devil" that he remains fully supportive of the project. Darshan stated, "So, I hope that all the work of my film 'The Devil' will proceed without any hindrance. I hereby inform you that you (makers of the film) have my full cooperation. And I firmly believe that my celebrities (fans) will consent to this". He also underlined his responsibility towards the filmmakers who placed their faith in him.
Darshan had been actively involved in the shooting of "The Devil," directed by Milana Prakash, and had completed both the shoot and dubbing before his bail was cancelled. The makers were expected to announce the release date soon. Despite his imprisonment, Darshan has urged his fans to continue supporting his film without being discouraged by his personal setbacks.
Vijayalakshmi had previously called for calm and positive actions from Darshan's fans following his arrest. She expressed gratitude for the support her husband has received and referred to his fans as "celebrities". She urged them to stay calm, engage in good deeds, and assured them that Darshan is moved by their support. She also emphasized their faith in the judicial system and expressed optimism for better days ahead.
Darshan was arrested on June 11 last year, along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga. Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered for sending objectionable messages to Pavithra Gowda on Instagram. His body was discovered near a stormwater drain close to an apartment complex in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru, on June 9, 2024. Darshan was released from prison on October 30 on interim bail after spending 131 days in jail. However, his bail was recently cancelled by the Supreme Court, leading to his re-arrest.
