Dhanashree Verma, the choreographer and influencer, is ready to embrace love again after her highly publicized divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. The couple, who married in December 2020, finalized their divorce in March 2025, a separation that became a major topic of discussion.
Verma recently opened up about her feelings on love and moving forward in an interview with Humans of Bombay. When asked if she was still open to finding love again, she responded affirmatively, expressing a sentiment that resonates with many. "I think we all want love in life," she said. "Like, who doesn't want to be loved? We all do somewhere, we all hope, we have that faith. And sometimes love is something that drives you also".
Verma emphasized the importance of self-love as a foundation before seeking a romantic partner. "I want self-love because of course, self-love, number one, you know, love yourself and then find love later," she stated. However, she remains optimistic about the possibility of finding love again, adding, "But if there is something good written for me ahead in my life, why not?". She described love as "the most beautiful feeling" and admitted to being a "hopeless romantic at heart".
The divorce proceedings were finalized in March 2025, with reports suggesting that Verma received ₹4.75 crore in alimony. The separation followed a period of intense public scrutiny, with social media users blaming Verma for the split. Some even labeled her a "gold digger". This online backlash occurred even before the divorce was official, with Verma anticipating being held responsible for the end of the marriage.
Verma described the day of the divorce verdict as incredibly emotional for her and her family. "I still remember when I was standing there and the verdict was about to be given, even though you are so mentally prepared that it is going to happen, it was still so emotional," she recalled. "I literally started howling and crying in front of everybody. I cannot even express what I was feeling at that point of time".
She also addressed an incident where Chahal was seen wearing a T-shirt that read, "Be Your Own Sugar Daddy" during a court appearance. Verma confessed she was taken aback by the gesture, suggesting that if he wanted to convey a message, he could have done so privately. "Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai? (You should have sent it on WhatsApp. Why wear the T-shirt?)" she said. Chahal later admitted that the T-shirt was indeed a message intended for her.
Despite the challenges and public attention surrounding her divorce, Dhanashree Verma is focusing on her work, healing, and remaining open to the possibility of finding love again. She emphasized her dedication and support for her partner during the marriage with Chahal. "You have to put in an effort. I know how much I have stood up for my partner, and everybody has seen that. Like for the smallest or biggest things, I have been there," she said.
