Shruti Haasan has recently addressed the criticism she has faced for openly discussing her cosmetic procedures, emphasizing that it's her personal choice and a price she's willing to pay for honesty. In a recent interview, the actress and musician spoke about societal expectations, the harsh judgment women in the entertainment industry often face, and the hypocrisy surrounding cosmetic surgery.

Haasan revealed that when she initially spoke about her experiences, she received comments like, "Oh, she is full of plastic surgery". However, she remains unfazed by these remarks, stating, "But I know what and how much I have done, and how much more others have. That's the price you pay for honesty. It is okay. And I never promote it. This is my choice". She underscored that her decisions are personal and not intended to influence others, asserting her right to live life on her own terms, unaffected by external judgment.

In February 2020, Haasan addressed the issue of body shaming and plastic surgery in a lengthy post on social media. She stated that she was not ashamed to admit she had undergone plastic surgery. "I'm happy to say this is my life my face and yes I've had plastic surgery which I'm not ashamed to admit," she wrote. She also made it clear that she does not promote it, nor is she against it, adding, "it's just how I choose to live". She believes that "the biggest favour we can do for ourselves and others is just be and learn to accept the changes and the movement of our bodies and minds".

Haasan has been open about the reasons behind her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery. She revealed that she had a nose surgery because her nose was broken, and she didn't like how it felt or looked. She also addressed the constant condescending comments she received about her face being "very Western, it's very sharp, it's very masculine". She admitted to undergoing non-invasive, temporary procedures and being open about them.

Shruti has emphasized that if other actresses deny having plastic surgery, "they are blatantly lying because people's faces don't change that much". She clarified that she doesn't propagate plastic surgery but felt she should be honest about her journey. She equates it to other cosmetic choices like Indian women feeling the need to bleach their skin, dye their hair blonde, or wear blue contact lenses.

Despite the criticism, Haasan stands by her choices and encourages others to do what makes them feel good. "You don't need to fit into anything, you do what you have to do," she asserted. She believes that "In love, in life, in work, fingers will always be pointed at you for blowing the whistle or speaking the truth or calling something out for what it is. But what a good price to pay," emphasizing the importance of authenticity in the face of scrutiny.

Currently, Shruti Haasan is enjoying the success of her latest film Coolie, opposite Rajinikanth, which has grossed over ₹400 crore globally.
