Tamannaah Bhatia has recently spoken out about the impact of unrealistic beauty standards and an incident where a fan's comment made her self-conscious about her body. During promotions for her latest project, Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, Tamannaah recalled a conversation after her song "Kaavaalaa" from the movie Jailer was released. A fan approached her at a party, expressing gratitude for Tamannaah's performance, stating that it helped "curvy women feel accepted" because she was "so big and fat" while still enjoying herself.

Tamannaah confessed that she hadn't perceived herself that way before. She said that until that moment, she hadn't really registered that people might consider her to be fat. Tamannaah had simply seen her performance in the song as "normal" and "beautiful". The actress admitted to growing up with a skewed perception that "being fit" meant "being skinny". She realized that unrealistic beauty standards extended beyond the film industry and impacted every young girl.

In another interview with SCREEN, Tamannaah shared her thoughts on changing the mindset in the film industry. She also revealed that it was during her performance in "Aaj Ki Raat" from the 2024 release, Stree 2, that she finally accepted her body. She had grown up putting a lot of pressure on herself to look a certain way.

Tamannaah also shared instances when mothers told her that their kids refused to eat food without watching her song, Aaj Ki Raat.

This isn't the first time Tamannaah has addressed body image issues. In 2020, she responded to trolls who called her "fat" during her COVID-19 recovery. She explained that she was on heavy medication, which caused her to look heavier. She expressed her disappointment at people who couldn't see past her appearance and recognize what she had gone through. Tamannaah stated that she was scared during the treatment and that there was a constant fear of death in her. She added that some people are insensitive and only look for flaws.
