Ravi Mohan Victorious: Madras High Court Upholds Right to Use 'Bro Code' Title.

Actor and filmmaker Ravi Mohan has secured a temporary victory in the Madras High Court, allowing him to use the title "Bro Code" for his upcoming film. The legal battle arose after a Delhi-based alcoholic beverage company, Indo Bevs Private Limited, claimed ownership of the title and sought to prevent Ravi Mohan Studios from using it for their movie.

Justice V. Lakshminarayanan issued a temporary injunction in favor of Ravi Mohan Studios, preventing Indo Bevs from interfering with the film's production, marketing, and release. The court also barred the beverage company from making threats of copyright infringement against the film. The injunction is valid for three weeks, during which Ravi Mohan Studios must serve notice to Indo Bevs. Failure to do so may result in the interim order not being extended.

Ravi Mohan Studios filed a petition in the Madras High Court, arguing that using "Bro Code" for the movie would not infringe on any trademark rights held by the liquor company. The studio's counsel, S. Karthigaibalan, pointed out that Indo Bevs' trademark application was still under examination and that no rights had been granted concerning films. The court acknowledged that Indo Bevs had registered "Bro Code" for alcoholic and energy beverages. However, the court was convinced by Ravi Mohan's argument, stating that the actor had established a prima facie case for granting the interim order.

Ravi Mohan's "Bro Code" is directed by Karthik Yogi and features S.J. Surya, Arjun Ashokan, and Shraddha Srinath in leading roles. Ravi Mohan is producing the film under his Ravi Mohan Studios banner. The film is slated for theatrical release in 2026. A promo for the film was recently released and has garnered significant attention.

The film's technical crew includes composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji, and editor Pradeep E Ragav. Costume designer Ruchi Munoth, art director Rajesh A, and stunt choreographer Mahesh Mathew are also part of the team.

In addition to the title dispute, Ravi Mohan is reportedly involved in a separate legal matter with a production company concerning advance payments for "Bro Code".

This Madras High Court ruling provides temporary relief for Ravi Mohan, allowing him to proceed with the production and release of "Bro Code" without immediate interference from Indo Bevs Private Limited. The court has also ordered the beverage company not to make 'threats' of copyright infringement. The case highlights the complexities of trademark law and the importance of protecting intellectual property in the entertainment industry.
