In a recent interview, Saif Ali Khan disclosed new details about a terrifying home invasion that occurred earlier this year, revealing that his youngest son, Jeh, was also injured during the attack. The incident took place at their Bandra residence on January 16th, sending shockwaves through the Bollywood community.
Khan recounted the harrowing experience on the talk show "Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle," where he appeared alongside Akshay Kumar. He explained that the incident unfolded late at night after his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, had returned home. Saif had just finished watching a movie with his sons, Taimur and Jeh, and they had gone to sleep around 2 AM.
According to Saif, their maid alerted them, saying, "Jeh baba ke kamre mein koi hai. Uske haath mein chaaku hai aur bol rahe hai usko paisa chahiye," which translates to "There's someone in Jeh's room. He has a knife and says he wants money". Saif immediately rushed to Jeh's room and found an intruder standing over his son's bed, armed with a knife.
Without hesitation, Saif confronted the intruder to protect his family. "I barged into Jeh's room, and in the dark, I saw this guy standing over his bed with a knife. I jumped on him and we started fighting," Saif recounted. The situation quickly escalated, and the intruder, described as having two knives, began slashing at Saif. During the struggle, both Saif and Jeh sustained injuries. While details about Jeh's injury remain limited, Saif suffered deep cuts to his neck, shoulder, and wrist. A 2.5-inch knife shard was later removed from his thoracic spine during emergency surgery.
The actor recalled the fear his elder son, Taimur, experienced during the ordeal. "Taimur looked at me upstairs, and he said, 'Oh, my God! Are you going to die?' And I said, no, I don't think so. But I've got a pain in the back. I'm not going to die, I'm fine," Saif stated. Despite the chaos and his injuries, Saif managed to keep his composure and reassure his children.
Following the attack, Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital's chief operating officer, confirmed that the surgery was successful and that Saif was stable and recovering in the ICU.
Police reports indicate that Jeh's nanny, Philip, was also injured when she tried to intervene. She encountered the intruder near Jeh's room, and he attacked her with a blade, causing severe injuries to her hands and wrists. Despite her injuries, Philip managed to alert the family, preventing potentially greater harm. The intruder, described as a thin, short man, fled the scene after the attack, evading security. Authorities launched a manhunt and are investigating the incident, using CCTV footage to identify the suspect who reportedly demanded money.
Kareena Kapoor Khan has previously spoken about the anxiety she felt in the months following the attack. The incident has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the family, but Saif's bravery and quick action prevented a potentially catastrophic outcome.
