The romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, has underperformed at the box office, leading to discussions about its commercial viability and the remuneration of its lead actor, Kartik Aaryan.

Released on December 25, 2025, the film, directed by Sameer Vidwans, aimed to capture the essence of modern relationships with a touch of classic Bollywood romance. However, upon release, the film received mixed to negative reviews, with critics praising the cinematography and production value, but criticizing the story, screenplay, direction, and performances.

Made on a reported budget of ₹90 crore to ₹150 crore, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has grossed ₹47.05 crore worldwide. Initial collections opened at ₹7.75 crore but declined rapidly. Trade experts predicted the film to wrap its business with ₹40-50 crore.

According to reports, Kartik Aaryan was paid ₹50 crore for his role in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, making him the highest-paid actor in the film. Ananya Panday, in comparison, reportedly received ₹5 crore for her role. Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta were also part of the cast, reportedly receiving ₹1.7 crore and ₹1 crore respectively.

Following the film's underwhelming performance, reports have surfaced that Kartik Aaryan has voluntarily returned ₹15 crore to Dharma Productions. This move is seen as a supportive gesture towards the producers, especially given the financial strain the film's failure may have caused.

Some reports initially suggested a fallout between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar's Dharma Collab Artists Agency (DCAA). However, these rumors have been denied by industry sources, who claim that Kartik extended support to the producer by waiving off a portion of his fees. This isn't the first time Aaryan has taken such action; he previously relinquished a portion of his remuneration after his film Shehzada underperformed.
