The 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025, held on October 11, 2025, at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, celebrated the best of Indian cinema. The ceremony, hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul, was a star-studded affair with memorable performances and several big wins.
Among the major winners, Laapataa Ladies emerged as the frontrunner, securing a record-equalling 13 awards. This tied the record for most wins by a single film, previously held by Gully Boy. The film was awarded Best Film, and also won awards for Best Supporting Actor Female (Chhaya Kadam), Best Supporting Actor Male (Ravi Kishan), Best Dialogue (Sneha Desai), Best Music Album (Ram Sampath), Best Lyrics (Prashant Pandey for "Sajni"), and Best Playback Singer (Male) (Arijit Singh for "Sajni"). Nitanshi Goel also won Best Debut Actor Female for her role in the film.
Alia Bhatt took home the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female). The award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) was shared by Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan for I Want To Talk and Chandu Champion respectively.
In the Critics' Awards categories, Rajkummar Rao won Best Actor (Male), while Pratibha Ranta secured Best Actor (Female). Shoojit Sircar's I Want To Talk won the Critics' Award for Best Film.
Other notable winners include Lakshya, who won Best Debut Actor (Male) for Kill, and Kunal Kemmu and Aditya Suhas Jambhale, who shared the Best Debut Director award. The award for Best Story went to Aditya Dhar and Monal Thaakar for Article 370, while Ritesh Shah and Tushar Sheetal won Best Adapted Screenplay for I Want To Talk. Madhubanti Bagchi won Best Playback Singer (Female) for "Aaj Ki Raat" from Stree 2. Achint Thakkar received the R.D. Burman Award.
The Filmfare Awards also honored veterans of the industry. Shyam Benegal was posthumously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, along with Zeenat Aman. The unmatched legacy of Dilip Kumar, Nutan, and Meena Kumari was also celebrated at the event.
