Abhishek Bachchan became emotional after winning the Best Actor award at the 70th Filmfare Awards held in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 11, 2025. He shared the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) with Kartik Aaryan; Bachchan won for his performance in "I Want To Talk," while Aaryan was recognized for his work in "Chandu Champion".
Visibly overwhelmed, Bachchan repeatedly glanced at his trophy with emotion before delivering his speech. The award coincided with his father Amitabh Bachchan's 83rd birthday, adding to the specialness of the moment.
In his acceptance speech, Bachchan expressed that receiving the award in front of his family made the honor even more special. He acknowledged his 25 years in the film industry, stating he had often dreamt and practiced his speech for such an award. "It's not been easy, but it's definitely been worth it," he said, expressing gratitude to his family, filmmakers, and fans.
Bachchan also dedicated the award to his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and their daughter, Aaradhya. He thanked them "for allowing me to go out and follow my dreams" and hoped that his win demonstrated that their sacrifices were a major reason he was on stage that day. Aishwarya Rai and Aaradhya did not attend the event.
He also had a message for younger actors: holding his award, he said that 25 years of hard work and belief can help one achieve their dreams. He urged everyone to believe in themselves and relentlessly chase their dreams.
Several other awards were presented during the evening. Alia Bhatt won Best Actress. Rajkummar Rao and Pratibha Ranta won the Critics' Awards for Best Actor (Male) and Best Actress (Female), respectively. The film "Laapataa Ladies" was a major winner, securing Best Film and a record-equalling 13 awards. Zeenat Aman and the late Shyam Benegal were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
