Kubbra Sait Reflects on Her Abortion: A Personal Story of Choice and Empowerment in a Difficult Time

Kubbra Sait, known for her role in "Sacred Games," has openly discussed her experience with abortion, emphasizing that she made the right decision at the time. In an episode of Ashneer Grover's show "Rise And Fall," Sait shared that she had an abortion at the age of 30. She has also spoken about this personal experience in her autobiography, "Open Book," revealing the emotional and mental challenges she faced.

Sait recounted that she became pregnant unexpectedly at 30, following a one-night stand during a trip to the Andaman Islands. She realized she was not ready for motherhood and decided to terminate the pregnancy. The man involved, according to Sait, did not want to take responsibility, further solidifying her decision.

"I don't want kids. I didn't even have any interest," Sait stated on "Rise And Fall". Reflecting on the abortion, she admitted, "That period was very difficult for me". Despite the difficulties, she remains firm in her conviction that it was the right choice for her.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sait shared the emotional turmoil she experienced. "When I went through the abortion, I don't think I was being strong at all. I was just too weak to take it forward," she said. She felt scared and alone, wondering about the potential impact of her decision. "What if I died? And you are taking this decision all by yourself. No one knows and no one cares," she recalled thinking.

Sait also addressed the societal pressures and judgments surrounding abortion. "Of course I felt like a terrible human being. A horrible human being because of that choice I had made," she admitted. However, she realized that her feelings of guilt stemmed from the anticipated judgment of others rather than her own feelings about the decision. "My choice was about me," she asserted, emphasizing the importance of self-care and making difficult choices.

Sait has been candid about the physical and emotional aftermath of the abortion. In an interview, she recounted a time when she was shooting for a travel show and experiencing heavy bleeding, feeling sick and cranky. She realized she had not told her director about the abortion, highlighting the stigma and fear of judgment that often surround such experiences.

Ultimately, Kubbra Sait stands by her decision, recognizing the strength she gained from making a choice that aligned with her own well-being. "I felt very weak at that time. I felt hollow. I felt like I was not worth it at all. But what came out of it much later was strength," she explained. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can encourage others to be kind to themselves and to make choices that are right for them, regardless of societal expectations.
