Ram Charan is set to commence shooting for his next film, tentatively titled "RC17," with director Sukumar immediately after he completes his current project, "Peddi". This collaboration marks a reunion for the actor and director duo after their critically acclaimed and commercially successful film, "Rangasthalam," which was released in 2018. The anticipation for this project is high among fans.
Currently, Ram Charan is immersed in filming "Peddi," a sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana of "Uppena" fame. The film is set against a rural backdrop and revolves around a cricket tournament. "Peddi" is slated for release on March 27, 2026. The film features Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, marking her second Telugu film after "Devara: Part 1". The cast also includes Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Ram Charan sports a muscular physique and a rustic, long-haired look with a nose ring for the role.
According to reports, Sukumar is currently in Dubai working on the screenplay for "RC17". In an interview with M9 News, the producer of both "Peddi" and "RC17" confirmed that pre-production work for "RC17" is underway and that the project will commence as soon as Ram Charan wraps up his schedule for "Peddi". Initial reports suggested the movie would begin in February 2026, but the new schedule indicates that "Peddi's" shoot will continue until January, with Ram Charan starting Sukumar's film afterward. It is now reported that the project is officially set to commence in April 2026.
Sukumar is known for blending commercial appeal with layered storytelling. While "Rangasthalam" was rooted in rustic political action, the upcoming film is expected to be different. Sukumar has expressed his desire to explore a strong love story with Ram Charan. However, considering the pan-India audience's expectations for action, especially after "Pushpa," the film is likely to have action at its core, delivered in a fresh and surprising way.
There are reports suggesting that Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon may be cast as the female lead in "RC17". While discussions are ongoing, an official announcement is expected soon. This would be her first film with Ram Charan.
"Peddi" has already secured a significant OTT deal, with its digital rights reportedly sold for ₹130 crore, potentially increasing by another ₹20 crore based on its box office performance.
