"Ab Tak 112: The life of encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma immortalized in upcoming biopic"

A biopic titled "Ab Tak 112," based on the life of former Mumbai encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma, is set to release in 2026. K Sera Sera announced the film, which will depict Sharma's journey, his fight against organized crime, and the controversies he faced. The film is directed by Abhijit Panse, known for his work in "Rege," "Thackeray," and the web series "Raan Baazaar".

Pradeep Sharma, born in 1961, gained notoriety as an "encounter specialist" during his time with the Mumbai police. He was credited with the deaths of over 100 criminals, including encounters with as many as 312 criminals, including notorious gangsters and terrorists. Sharma's career spanned 35 years, during which he became a prominent figure in Mumbai's fight against organized crime.

Sharma joined the State Police Service in 1983 as a sub-inspector, after completing his education in Dhule, Maharashtra. He rose through the ranks, eventually heading police stations in various Mumbai suburbs and becoming a senior inspector in the crime intelligence unit. He was known for his fearless approach and dedication to dismantling the underworld that had gripped Mumbai. Sharma's operations targeted organized crime networks, including those associated with Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan.

However, Sharma's career was also marked by controversies. In 2008, he was suspended from the Mumbai police on corruption charges but was reinstated in 2017 after being found innocent. He resigned from the police force in July 2019 and entered politics, joining the Shiv Sena party. He contested the Maharashtra assembly polls from Nalasopara but was defeated.

In addition to his encounters, Sharma also led missions against Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives and targeted international drug trafficking cartels. Despite the challenges and controversies, Sharma's legacy includes social work and community upliftment efforts. He worked to improve communities, promote youth education, and contribute to overall societal betterment.

"Ab Tak 112" aims to capture the realism, intensity, and political elements that defined Sharma's world. The film promises to showcase his journey, including his rise, struggles, and encounters. Sharma himself has expressed that he hopes the story inspires courage in the face of darkness. The film is poised to be a cinematic event that blends grit and realism. The film is scheduled for release in 2026.
