Indian Police Day, also known as Police Commemoration Day, holds significant importance in the country. It is a day to remember the sacrifices made by police and paramilitary forces. The date, October 21st, commemorates the sacrifice of ten Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who were martyred in an ambush by Chinese troops in Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959.
The day serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices and dedicated service of police officers across the nation, who work tirelessly to maintain peace, security, and order in society. Their duties range from maintaining law and order and preventing crime to responding to emergencies and protecting citizens.
Mukerji has also been actively involved in initiatives that support and recognize the work of the police force. Recently, she attended the inauguration ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai. At the event, she joined Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police (Maharashtra State) Rashmi Shukla, and Iqbal Singh Chahal (IPS), Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Government of Maharashtra.
