Diwali 2025 is proving to be an extra special occasion for Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and their daughter, Raha, as they prepare to move into their brand new ₹250 crore Pali Hill bungalow. This year also marks their last Diwali in their current Vaastu home in Bandra, Mumbai, where Raha was born.
Alia Bhatt shared that this Diwali is particularly emotional for her as they bid farewell to the home that holds many precious memories. "This is our last Diwali in the home that she (Raha) was born in. So, it's actually a really emotional time," Alia said in an interview with Bombay Times. However, she also expressed her excitement about moving into their new home and starting a new chapter. "But it is also very exciting because I know she might not remember this specific Diwali, but the years of memories will build up, and it'll leave a feeling in her. And Diwali is all about feelings. It should feel warm and full of light," she added.
To make this Diwali memorable, Alia is going all out with the festivities. She revealed that they would be having a Lakshmi Puja at home, followed by gifting presents to their staff. "Today, we'll do our Lakshmi Puja followed by a sweet moment with our staff – we give them presents and thank them for being with us," Alia shared.
Alia also mentioned that Raha is now old enough to understand and enjoy the festivities. "Even in her preschool, they've been playing this Happy Diwali song. And today she was doing the Happy Diwali dance. She really is into this. She loves dancing. It's really just about embracing all those little moments," Alia said.
One of the highlights of their Diwali celebration this year is Raha's involvement in the preparations. Alia revealed that Raha loves to paint, and they recently did DIY diya painting together. "Yesterday we did DIY diya painting because she loves to paint," Alia shared. This morning, they are making rangoli together. "This morning, we're making rangoli together," she added. Alia further explained that she is making sure to use flowers for the rangoli this year because she was concerned that Raha might put the colors in her eye.
Alia also revealed her love for matching outfits with Raha. "I've gotten more excited about it and now I just love doing combo colors with me and Raha - Matching our looks. That's my drive. Now I'm more excited about how do we combine the looks? And she really likes it. She really enjoys dressing up," she said.
The couple has invited their close friends and family to join them for a Diwali party at their Vaastu home. "When I sent them the invite it read – Last Diwali in Vaastu. Please come and join. Bring a great attitude. The dress code is always festive but chill," Alia said. The food menu will include all their favorite dishes and Diwali specials that are specific to their Vaastu celebrations over the years.
Looking ahead, Alia expressed her gratitude for this new chapter in their lives. "I feel truly blessed to have this chapter in life. We're in the middle of the moving-in chaos, but my heart is full. It's a big dream coming together," she said. She also acknowledged that the feeling of moving into their new home is overwhelming and might take months or even a year to fully sink in.
On the work front, Alia will next be seen in Alpha with Sharvari and Bobby Deol. She is also co-starring with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War. Ranbir is also part of Ramayana.
