Mumbai, October 23, 2025 – Veteran actor Sunny Deol has announced his next film, titled 'Ikka', generating considerable excitement among his fans. The announcement comes shortly after Deol revealed his upcoming action drama, 'Gabru', slated for release on March 13, 2026.
Deol shared a captivating first-look motion poster of 'Ikka' on his Instagram account, immediately sparking enthusiasm. The poster features a minimalist design with the film's title prominently displayed, set against a backdrop that hints at the film's action-thriller elements. Deol captioned the post, "Neither a slave nor a king, just IKKA,".
While specific details about the plot and Deol's character remain under wraps, 'Ikka' is anticipated to be a large-scale action thriller. Initial reports suggested the film was a remake of the Hollywood action thriller, 'Death Sentence' (2007), but those plans were discarded. The film will now proceed with an original script. Sources indicate that Netflix explored the remake idea, but both Deol and the director rejected it. The OTT platform is now moving forward with an original script to showcase Sunny Deol in a "fresh, unconventional" role.
'Ikka' will be directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, known for helming films like 'Hichki', 'We Are Family', and 'Maharaj'. The film will also star Akshaye Khanna, reuniting with Deol nearly three decades after their collaboration in the 1997 blockbuster 'Border'. The film is expected to premiere directly on Netflix India in 2026.
The cast will also feature Dia Mirza, Tillotama Shome, and Tanushree Dutta in key roles. The film is being produced under a leading banner in association with Netflix India. Principal photography is scheduled to commence later this month in Mumbai and other locations across North India.

Akshaye Khanna was last seen as Mughal King Aurangzeb in 'Chhaava'. He will also be seen in 'Dhurandhar', co-starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, and 'Mahakali'.
