Mumbai, October 25, 2025 – Veteran actor Satish Shah, widely recognized for his comedic roles in the popular television show "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai" and numerous Bollywood films, has passed away at the age of 74. The actor breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM.
Satish Shah, a member of the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) since 1985, was admitted to the hospital due to kidney-related issues, which ultimately led to his demise. The news was confirmed by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who expressed his grief over the loss of a dear friend and a significant figure in the entertainment industry.
Born on June 25, 1951, Satish Shah carved a niche for himself in the world of comedy with his impeccable timing and memorable performances. He became a household name through his role as Indravadan Sarabhai in the sitcom "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai," which garnered him a new generation of fans, even years after the show concluded.
Shah's career spanned several decades, during which he showcased his talent in a variety of films, including "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro," "Hum Saath Saath Hain," "Kal Ho Naa Ho," "Main Hoon Na," "Fanaa," and "Om Shanti Om". His contribution to Indian cinema and television has left an indelible mark on the industry. In addition to acting, Shah also co-judged the show "Comedy Circus" in 2008. In 2015, he was appointed as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society.
Ashoke Pandit shared a video on Instagram, conveying the circumstances surrounding Shah's death. He mentioned that the actor had suddenly fallen ill at home and was immediately taken to Hinduja Hospital, where he passed away. Pandit described Shah as a "great actor" and a "great man," emphasizing the significant loss to the industry.
CINTAA also expressed its condolences via X (formerly Twitter), acknowledging the passing of a long-time member. Satish Shah is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah, a designer. The couple married in 1972.
In 2020, Satish Shah had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on July 20, from which he was discharged on July 28 after a full recovery.
