Milap Zaveri credits Harshvardhan Rane's star power for 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' success, regrets missing single screens.

Mumbai, October 25, 2025 – Milap Zaveri is elated with the unexpected success of his latest directorial venture, "Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat," a romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa. Released on October 21, coinciding with Diwali, the film has become a sleeper hit, exceeding expectations at the box office despite mixed reviews from critics.

In an exclusive interview, Zaveri expressed his excitement, stating that the last few days have been "absolutely surreal". He acknowledged the challenges the film faced, noting that it was "against all odds". According to Sacnilk, "Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat" has amassed an estimated ₹33.63 crore in total collections in its first five days. Other reports suggest even higher figures, with one mentioning ₹37.01 crore.

Zaveri highlighted the importance of single screens for the film's potential. "Until Friday, we didn't have a presence in single screens when the fact is that this is such a single screen film," he revealed. He further lamented that the film could have potentially opened at ₹12-13 crore if it had secured the necessary single-screen presence from day one.

The director emphasized Harshvardhan Rane's contribution to the film's success. "This proves the power of content and music. It shows the power of Harshvardhan Rane. Everyone underestimated him," Zaveri stated. He acknowledged Rane's existing fanbase from films like "Sanam Teri Kasam," "Taish," "Haseen Dillruba," "Tara vs Bilal," and "Dange".

"Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat" is a romantic drama that explores the themes of obsession and emotional turmoil. Vikramaditya, a politician, becomes infatuated with Adaa, a free-spirited woman. Their love story takes a dark turn as Vikramaditya's affection becomes obsessive, leading to tragedy and betrayal. The film features Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan in supporting roles.

Despite facing competition from Ayushmann Khurrana's "Thamma", "Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat" has managed to hold its ground. While "Thamma" experienced a sharper drop in collections, "Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat" has shown resilience, particularly in smaller centers like Jaipur, Lucknow, and Bhopal.

The film's success is attributed to its emotional resonance, strong word-of-mouth, and appealing music. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the film's performance is driven by Tier-2 and Tier-3 centers, with the "chartbuster soundtrack, intense dramatic moments, and emotional highs" attracting a youth audience.

"Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat" was produced under the banner Desi Movies Factory and was shot in just 35 days. The film's box office performance has exceeded expectations, with early estimates suggesting it may reach ₹43 crore by the end of its first weekend. Some reports even suggest the film could touch the ₹50 crore mark soon.
