Nikitin Dheer Remembers His Father Pankaj Dheer: A Heartfelt Tribute After Losing His Best Friend

Nikitin Dheer recently shared an emotional tribute to his father, veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, who passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 68, after battling cancer. The "Shershaah" actor took to social media to express his grief and gratitude for the outpouring of love and respect his father received from fans and the film fraternity.

In a heartfelt post accompanied by a video montage of Pankaj Dheer's career highlights, Nikitin wrote about the profound loss he feels. "I am not the best at expressing my feelings... But I shall try," he began, acknowledging the inevitable nature of death while grappling with the void left by his father's passing. "On the 15th of October 2025, I lost my Dad, my Guru, my best friend..Shri Pankaj Dheer..he wasn't well for sometime..it shattered us as a family," Nikitin shared.

Nikitin's post resonated deeply with fans, many of whom offered their condolences and shared memories of Pankaj Dheer's iconic performances. The veteran actor was best known for his portrayal of Karna in B.R. Chopra's "Mahabharat," a role that cemented his place in Indian television history. Nikitin also spoke about the immense support his family received after his father's death. "After he passed we were thronged by thousands of messages..the people who were younger sent prayers, the elders sent aashirwaad and his friends, colleagues and brothers sent love..we received love and respect towards Dad, that no amount of words can express," he wrote, expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of affection.

He further added that he scattered the ashes of his father in Ganga river. Nikitin highlighted the lessons his father imparted, emphasizing values such as resilience, character, loyalty, and perseverance. He also spoke of Pankaj Dheer's passion for cinema and music, which he instilled in his son. "Today I am more proud than ever to be his son," Nikitin affirmed, promising to uphold his father's legacy through his work and as a human being. "He was the best father a boy could ever ask for..taught me what grit is..what character is..what loyalty is..what persevering is..how one should follow their dreams even if the world thinks you're delusional..All the life lessons he taught me shall be my north star as long as I breathe," he expressed.

The last rites for Pankaj Dheer were attended by several prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, and Sidharth Malhotra. Tributes poured in from colleagues and admirers, recognizing his contribution to Indian cinema and television.

Pankaj Dheer is survived by his wife Anita, son Nikitin, daughter-in-law Kratika Sengar, and granddaughter Devika. His influence extends beyond his on-screen roles, as he also founded the Abhinay Acting Academy to nurture new talent.
