Shashi Tharoor Hails Netflix's Bollywood Exposé, Praising Aryan Khan's Masterful Direction of 'The Ba***ds'.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has lauded Aryan Khan's directorial debut, "The Ba***ds of Bollywood," calling it a "masterpiece" and praising its "fearless storytelling". Tharoor shared his review on X, stating that the Netflix series is "absolute #OTT GOLD!" and that he was "irresistibly hooked".

Tharoor, who was recovering from a cold and cough, said he was persuaded by his staff and sister, Smita Tharoor, to watch the series. He described it as "one of the best things I have ever treated myself to". He commended the show's sharp writing, fearless direction, and audacious satire, which he believes is exactly what Bollywood needs. Tharoor also praised the series' insider jokes and its ability to offer a glimpse behind the scenes of the film industry. He stated that the series "takes time to grow on you, but then you're irresistibly hooked!".

"Just finished watching Aryan Khan's directorial debut, 'The Bads of Bollywood', and I'm left grasping for words of praise," Tharoor wrote. He further added that the seven episodes mark the arrival of a "true storytelling powerhouse". Addressing Aryan Khan directly, Tharoor said, "Take a bow, Aryan Khan—you've delivered a masterpiece: 'The Bads of Bollywood' is brilliant!". He also sent a message to Shah Rukh Khan, saying, "from one father to another, let me say: you must be so proud!!".

"The Ba***ds of Bollywood," directed by Aryan Khan and produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, features a star-studded cast, including Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Aanya Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Mona Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Manoj Pahwa, Gautami Kapoor, and Rajat Bedi. The series blends satire and glamour, exploring the chaotic and humorous side of Bollywood while referencing real-life controversies. The show also includes cameo appearances by several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, SS Rajamouli, Aamir Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Sara Ali Khan and Disha Patani.

The series follows Aasmaan Singh, a Delhi-based actor whose debut lands him a dream role in a Karan Johar film. Since its release on Netflix last month, "The Ba***ds of Bollywood" has garnered significant attention for its witty narrative and direction, accumulating over nine million views.

However, the series has also faced some controversy. Former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has sued the show and Netflix for defamation, claiming that a character in the show parodies him.
