R. Madhavan is generating buzz with his transformative portrayal of Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, the "Edison of India," in the upcoming biopic, "G.D.N.". The first look teaser, unveiled recently, shows Madhavan virtually unrecognizable as the aged inventor and industrialist.
The teaser begins in a dimly lit workshop, where Madhavan, as Naidu, is engrossed in his work, his face shielded by a welding mask. As he lifts the shield, the camera reveals an older, determined Naidu, framed by round spectacles. This initial glimpse has already generated significant excitement and anticipation for the film.
Madhavan also shared the teaser on social media, writing, "The spirit of G.D.NAIDU is now officially unveiled. A story of unmatched vision, towering ambition, and unwavering resolve. We proudly present the First Look Teaser of G.D.N.".
"G.D.N." aims to bring to life the story of Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, a self-taught engineer and industrialist from Coimbatore who revolutionized the Indian industry. Naidu is credited with developing India's first indigenous electric motor, among other inventions like petrol engines, ticket machines, and agricultural equipment. The film will explore his relentless pursuit of progress during pre-independence India.
The film is directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar and produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures in association with Tricolour Films. Govind Vasantha is composing the music. The cast includes Priyamani, Jayaram, and Yogi Babu.
Fans have reacted to the teaser with enthusiasm, praising Madhavan's transformation and expressing anticipation for the film. One fan commented, "Omg you surpass each set standard, each time Madhavan! Waiting for another extraordinary one". Another wrote, “I can't believe my eyes. It's such a stunning and wonderful shock for me".
Madhavan also shared a glimpse from the sets, showing him in a clean-shaven look, accompanied by a grateful message about the cast, crew, and producers.
Beyond "G.D.N.," Madhavan's upcoming projects include "De De Pyaar De 2" with Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, slated for release on November 14, 2025, and the action drama "Dhurandhar".
