Mumbai, Nov 2, 2025 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has issued an apology to his legions of fans, announcing that he will not be able to greet them from the balcony of his iconic residence, Mannat, on his 60th birthday. This annual tradition, where thousands of admirers gather outside Mannat to catch a glimpse of the actor, will be put on hold this year due to ongoing renovations and safety concerns.
In a social media announcement, Khan expressed his regret, stating, "Have been advised by authorities that I will not be able to step out and greet all you lovely people who have been waiting for me". He further explained that this decision was made "for the overall safety of everyone due to crowd control issues".
The actor added, "Thank you for understanding and believe me… I will miss seeing you more than you will. Was looking forward to seeing you all and sharing love. Love u all…".
Mannat, Khan's sea-facing bungalow in Bandra, is currently undergoing major renovation and expansion, which commenced in May 2025 and is expected to last for almost two more years. The extensive makeover has affected the usual arrangements for his birthday greetings. Earlier, during an #AskSRK session on X (formerly Twitter), when a fan inquired about the balcony appearance, Khan wittily responded, "Of course, but may have to wear a hard hat!!!".
Despite the disappointment of not seeing their idol, fans have continued to celebrate with enthusiasm. Many were seen gathering near Mannat, singing birthday songs, and cutting cakes. Some fans also took to social media to share their wishes and express their love for the actor.
For fans who were eager to celebrate with the actor in person, a special fan meet has been arranged in Bandra at Balgandharva Rangmandir at 4:00 PM. Access to this event is exclusive and only those who secured passes through select fan communities can enter.
Khan celebrated his 60th birthday with close family and friends at his Alibaug residence. Pictures and videos from the celebration were shared online, keeping fans updated on the festivities.
Adding to the excitement, Khan unveiled the first look of his next film, "King," on his birthday. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, is slated for a 2026 release and will feature Suhana Khan and Deepika Padukone. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhay Verma, among others.
Security around Mannat has been heightened, and police have been implementing crowd control measures to manage the large number of fans. Authorities had cordoned off the area near the gate due to safety concerns.
Shah Rukh Khan's decision not to greet fans at Mannat this year is a departure from tradition, but his concern for their safety is paramount. The actor's gesture of arranging a special fan meet and sharing the first look of "King" shows his continued appreciation for his fans' unwavering support.
